Springfield Interchange Gets $7.5M In Improvements
VDOT recently finished improvements to two bridges on the Springfield interchange.
Drivers on the Springfield interchange will have a smoother ride after $7.5 million in bridge work was completed, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
The work was completed on two bridges at the ramps from Interstate 495 to Interstate 395: the bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railroad that carries drivers from the I-495 Inner and Outer Loops to northbound I-395, and the bridge over the Inner Loop that carries drivers from the Outer Loop to northbound I-395.
The bridges were respectively built in 1959 and 1975. The I-395 interchange carries about 209,000 vehicles per day and I-495 averages 238,000 vehicles per day.
