SPRINGFIELD, VA — Believe it or not, the ZIP codes with the highest demand aren't the bustling city centers and beach getaways. According to a new analysis from realtor.com, they're the small towns and cities that offer less costly alternatives to nearby places.
The real estate listing website named the top 10 hottest ZIP codes, where homes quickly leave the market. The average time it took homes to sell in these ZIP codes was 18 days, about a month faster than their metropolitan areas and 51 days faster than other places around the U.S.
Realtor.com looked at ZIP codes in the 300 largest metropolitan areas from April to June, ranking them based on the most page views per property on realtor.com and the fewest days on the market. A common thread of the hottest ZIP codes included less expensive prices than their neighboring suburbs or cities.
