BURKE, VA — Are you in the market for a new pet? Virginia German Shepherd Rescue will have its adoptable dogs out to greet families in Burke on Saturday.

The rescue event will be held at the Petco in Burke, 9230 Old Keene Mill Road, on Saturday, April 17, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Residents are welcome to come meet adoptable dogs and learn about the organization and volunteering.

Virginia German Shepherd Rescue is a nonprofit volunteer-run organization that rescues German Shepherd dogs. The organization helps German Shepherds — and sometimes other breeds and mixes — who are in shelters, surrendered by their owners, or suffer from abuse or neglect. Dogs typically find homes in the DC metropolitan area. Since 2001, the organization has helped over 3,000 dogs find homes.
