As recently as two years ago, Virginia didn't permit same-sex marriage but that changed in Oct., 2014 when the U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear appeals from Virginia and four other states attempting to block same-sex marriage.
In a statment on website, McAuliffe said: "I am pleased the Virginia Tourism Corporation has created this landing page to connect travelers with inclusive, LGBT-friendly establishments across the Commonwealth. Virginia is truly for lovers, and we hope you have an unforgettable experience visiting the greatest state in the greatest nation on Earth!"
