VIRGINIA — Tuesday marked the first snow of 2020, and much of the region was under a winter weather advisory as snow coated the ground between the afternoon and evening. In terms of snow accumulation, some areas of DC and northern Virginia saw more than others.
The National Weather Service has trained spotters who measure snowfall totals in various towns. Early snowfall totals indicate areas west of the Beltway, especially toward the mountains, received more snow. Areas east of Interstate 95 saw little more than a dusting.
