Centreville Group Wants To Collect Donations To Feed 50 Families

The Centreville Immigration Forum wants to receive enough food donations to be able to distribute food to 50 households in the community.

CENTREVILLE, VA — The Centreville Immigration Forum is accepting non-perishable food items at its location at 5944 Centreville Crest Lane in Centreville on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m.

"Many of our neighbors, including members of Centreville Immigration Forum, are struggling financially because they've had their hours cut or lost job opportunities," the group said.

The group is hoping to receive enough food donations to be able to distribute food to 50 households in our the community. Residents can view the list of items that are needed and sign up to make a donation.

In March, the Centreville Immigration Forum temporarily suspended arranging jobs between day laborers and those who want to hire them. The Centreville Labor Resource Center, a program of the Centreville Immigration Forum, serves as a safe place where recent immigrants can get matched up with homeowners who need odd jobs done around the house or contractors who need workers for one- or two-day jobs.

Last week, the Centreville Immigration Forum reopened its Centreville Labor Resource Center, providing day laborers a safe place to find work. The center will be open Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays from 6 a.m. to noon.
