Centreville Seniors Displaced By Fire: How You Can Help
Dozens of senior residents lost it all in the May 1 fire, and a nonprofit is accepting donations to give them a hand.

CENTREVILLE, VA — Over 100 senior citizens are left without anything after a fire tore through their housing complex in Centreville, Virginia, last week. Now, a local nonprofit is doing their part to help the seniors out, according to reports.
Volunteer Center of Fairfax is accepting gift cards, WTOP reported, to donate to the seniors. They're asking for anybody with the means to buy gift cards for household items, food, clothing and other necessities.
Officials say an improperly disposed cigarette caused the May 1 fire.

According to WTOP, Red Cross spokesman said the seniors will not likely return to their old homes any time soon and will require "long-term planning" strategies for the residents.
To donate a gift card, you can visit the Volunteer Center of Fairfax at 10530 Page Ave. from Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can also mail them directly.
