'Goodies by Nature' Raw Cashews Recalled in Virginia due to Risk of Salmonella
A routine FDA test found raw cashews packaged by Grand BK Corp., located in New York, had been contaminated with Salmonella.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced Monday that Grand BK Corp. of Maspeth, New York, is recalling 450 of its 9-ounce containers of raw cashews due to the potential they’ve been contaminated with Salmonella.
The product is reportedly labeled “Goodies By Nature Raw Cashews 9 oz.,” and the recalled product has sell-by dates ranging between April 29, 2016 and May 2, 2016 and a UPC code of 846034010055.

No illnesses have been reported as of time of publication, but routine FDA testing determined the raw cashews tested positive for Salmonella, warranting the recall.
The FDA described Salmonella as “an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.”
