The Virginia Run Riptide was finally back in the water this past Saturday after COVID canceled the 2020 summer season. They competed against High Point Pool and it was the first swim in Division 3 for the Riptide, which ended their 2019 season in Division 4.

The final score of 244-176 was not in the Riptide’s favor but the enthusiasm and energy the team put into their races was on full display.

Three new team records were set during the meet: Charis Roundtree broke the 11/12 50-meter freestyle record from 2003 with a time of 28.70 and she broke the 11/12 50-meter butterfly record from 1995 with a time of 31.21. Also breaking a record set in 1994 was the 11/12 girls medley relay team of Carson Coughlin, Anna Kelliher, Charis Roundtree, and Caroline Friess with a time of 1:05.43.
