The Virginia Run Riptide Keeps On Swimming
The second meet of the season brought fast swims and new records.

The Virginia Run Riptide traveled to Hunt Valley for their second ‘A’ meet of the summer season last Saturday. While the Riptide lost with a score of 181 to Hunt Valley’s 239, records were still broken and team spirit was high, despite enduring long meet delays and a torrential downpour.
Two new team records were set during the meet: Charis Roundtree broke her own 50-meter butterfly record with a time of 31.06, and the 11/12 Girls Medley Relay of Charis Roundtree, Anna Kelliher, Carson Coughlin, Caroline Friess broke the record they set just last week with a new time of 1:03.84.
Anna Kelliher (12) had a first-place win in the 50-meter freestyle, and Riptide swimmers Dara Anyalebechi (8), Caitlin Do (10), and Carson Coughlin (12) took first in the backstroke. Charis Roundtree (12), swimming up an age group, also took first in the 13/14 backstroke, and Sam Roundtree (15) placed first for the 15-18 boys.

First in breaststroke were Nathan Tonthat (10), Anna Kelliher (12), and Michael Hart (17).
First place finishes in butterfly went to Dara Anyalebechi (8), Tyler Harris (9), Alyssa Jones (10), Davis Collinsworth (14), Charis Roundtree (12) swimming up an age group, and Caitlin Kelliher (17).

Virginia Run did well in the relay round with wins by the 8 and under boys medley relay with Henry Diggs, Noah Bange, Tyler Garcia, and Robert Thomson at a time of 1:28.47. The 8 and Under girls also won their medley relay with the team of Elena Taddeo, Zoey Koubaroulis, Sydney Rein, and Dara Anyalebechi with a time of 1:33.78.
Medley relay wins were also brought home by the 9-10 boys team of Nathan Tonthat, Declan McCrea, Tyler Harris, and Matthew Kelliher with a time of 1:19.06; the 11-12 girls team of Carson Coughlin, Anna Kelliher, Charis Roundtree, and Caroline Freiss with a new record of 1:03.83; the 13-14 boys team of Davis Collinsworth, Andrew Newkirk, Bryan Kim, and Kamsi Anyalebechi with a time of 1:03.00, and the 15-18 boys team of Sam Roundtree, Griffin Osterhout, Michael Hart, and William Whitton with a time of 2:01.77.
The Riptide has their first home ‘A’ meet tomorrow and will welcome the Little Rocky Run Stingrays to the pool.
