4 Numbers That Sum Up Virginia Tourism Economy

Governor Terry McAuliffe announced today that Virginia's tourism revenues topped $22.4 billion in 2014.

Virginia’s tourism revenues increased 4.1 percent in 2014 over the previous year, according to Gov. Terry McAuliffe.

Here are 4 numbers to know about Virginia tourism in 2014:

1. Virginia’s tourism revenues topped $22.4 billion in 2014.

2. In 2014, tourism in Virginia supported 216,949 jobs, an increase of nearly 700 jobs from 2013.

3. The tourism industry provided more than $1.5 billion in state and local revenue last year, an increase of 5.6 percent compared to 2013.

4. In 2014, domestic travelers spent $61 million a day in Virginia.

“These figures illustrate how the industry creates solid, good-paying jobs for Virginians, helping us to grow and diversify the economy,” Mcauliffe said.
