Historic All Hallows’ Eve Celebration at Sully Historic Site Oct. 26

Sully Historic Site will host its annual Historic All Hallows’ Eve celebration on Oct. 26. 

Guests will take a glimpse of things that would have been done on All Hallows’ Eve in the 18th and 19th centuries and before.  Halloween, a shortened version of All Hallows’ Eve, is typically linked to the Celtic festival of Samhain, which marked a time for harvesting crops, a time of remembrance and a time when people took steps to protect themselves from harmful or evil spirits. 

Local duo Evergreen Shade will be performing songs that highlight fall and Halloween.  Children can play games and make a pumpkin craft to take home, and our young juggler will amaze you with his skills. There will also be story telling and a short production of Washington Irving’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.”  As the reader tells the story, actors bring his words to life.  McLean High School students from Project Enlightenment will participate in the performance.

The Sully celebration features fall food cooking demonstrations in the 1794 open hearth kitchen and tours of the house.
