CHANTILLY, VA — Pickleballerz, an indoor pickleball facility in Chantilly, donated $600 to Northern Virginia charity Food For Neighbors from money the company raised during a St. Patrick's Day social event at Pickleballerz on March 17.

Beverly and Greg Raelson, owners of Pickleballerz, chose Food For Neighbors because of the company’s previous involvement participating in the nonprofit's Red Bag Program. Based in Herndon, Food For Neighbors works to fight hunger among middle and high school students in Fairfax and Loudoun counties.

"Food security is so important to live an active, healthy life," Greg Raelson said Monday in a statement. "We felt that as a local business in the area, helping another local organization like Food For Neighbors who work so hard to get our area's youth their nutritional needs met is so important. No child should struggle with hunger."

"We've been thrilled to have so many members of the local pickleball-playing community call Pickleballerz their 'home' for pickleball, and we're equally enthusiastic about all of our new players we've been able to introduce to the sport," Raelson said. "We love seeing all of the new faces, and their smiles as they pick up this sport we all enjoy so much."

Many of Pickleballerz' players contributed to the effort to raise funds for Food For Neighbors. Local businesses such as Mobius Records in Fairfax, ACME Pie Co. in Arlington, Glory Days Grill and Craftsman Auto Care donated prizes for the fundraising event on St. Patrick’s Day.

"We really appreciate you serving local teens with a donation to Food For Neighbors,” Food For Neighbors Executive Director Karen Joseph said in a statement. "It's going to be a busy spring and summer as we continue to distribute food, and your generous contribution will help immensely."
