A man in his 20s was stabbed early this morning outside of a party at a townhouse in the 6700 block of Jenny Leigh Court in Centreville.

Fairfax County police responded to a 911 call that was placed at approximately 3:15 a.m.  Lucy Caldwell, a spokesperson for the police department, said that a group of approximately 4-5 people showed up at the party uninvited.  After refusing to leave, a fight broke out in the parking lot, and one of the uninvited guests pulled out a pistol.

Caldwell said that a guest from the party was able to subdue the person with the gun, but was then stabbed by one of the uninvited guests. The suspect then fled the scene.

The pistol was not fired during the incident.

The police have interviewed dozens of witnesses, and Caldwell said they are "hopeful that charges will be placed."  Detectives are actively searching for the suspect.

The victim was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital with life-threatening injuries, but Caldwell believes that his condition has improved.

Caldwell added that a second person was struck by the pistol, but the extent of the victim's injuries are unknown.
