Tim Kaine To Speak Out Against Immigration Order Monday at Dulles

The U.S. Senator from Virginia has forcefully decried President Trump's executive order on immigration. He's set to speak about 4:15 p.m.

DULLES, VA — U.S. Sen.Tim Kaine (D-Va.) will speak out Monday afternoon at Dulles International Airport against President Trump's executive order that temporarily bars citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States.

Kaine, Hillary Clinton's running mate in the 2016 presidential election, already has blasted the order that has prompted protests at airports throughout the country.

On Sunday, he and Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) released a letter they sent to Department of Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly that demanded answers about travelers being detained at Dulles and other airports.

"The broadness of the EO suggests this is a policy targeting Muslims, an approach that national security experts have testified would harm, not help, our national security interests," the senators wrote. "We join the interfaith community in Virginia and around the country in objecting to these moves, and we will work in Congress to block an effort that trades dubious increases in our national security for certain alienation of partners with whom we must cooperate to address terrorism.
