Virginia Weather Forecast: Chance for Snow Showers, Much Colder Temps Later This Week
We'll begin 2017 with temperatures staying far above freezing, but only for a few days. Here's the latest forecast.

STERLING, VA — The new year begins with temperatures staying in the 40s and low 50s for several days, before a sharp drop and a chance for snow enters the forecast, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures cool to the mid-40s by Monday, with showers likely in the morning and early afternoon. Showers will be back in the forecast Tuesday, with temperatures climbing back to the low 50s.
We'll start seeing colder temperatures Wednesday night, as we drop below freezing for the first time this week. Thursday's high will only reach 35 degrees.

There's a 30 percent chance for snow on Thursday night.
Friday and Saturday will offer even colder temperatures, as daytime highs barely climb above freezing and overnight lows fall to 20 degrees.

Monday: Showers likely, mainly before 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 44. Northeast wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Tuesday: Showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 52. East wind 5 to 7 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 48.
Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 35.
Thursday Night: A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 33.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 33.
