UPDATE: Young Child Struck by Vehicle

The child sustained life-threatening injuries.

Update: 10:30 p.m.

Officer Broderick with the Fairfax County Police Department confirmed that the child is a 1-year-old boy, and his condition has been upgraded to non-life-threatening. 

She said that a member of the child's family was backing out of the driveway while the child was on the front stoop with another family member.  The child then moved from the stoop to the end of the driveway where he was struck.

A young child was hit by a vehicle at a residence on the 3900 block of Downs Drive in Chantilly.  The incident was reported at some point between 6:15 p.m. and 7 p.m. 

A spokesman for the Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department said that the child is believed to be a 1-year-old boy, but that is not confirmed.  The child was medevaced from the scene with life-threatening injuries. 

The investigation is ongoing.
