Association Moving from Arlington to DC's The Wharf
The APA is currently located in the iconic Twin Towers building in Rosslyn.

Hoffman-Madison Waterfront, the master developer of the mixed-use waterfront community The Wharf, today announced that the American Psychiatric Association (APA), will occupy 63,000 square feet of office space at 800 Maine Ave., according to a news release from The Wharf and the association.
APA is currently located in Suite 1825 of the iconic Rosslyn Twin Towers building at 1000 Wilson Blvd.
DC Mayor Muriel E. Bowser made the announcement at today’s “bottoming out” event at The Wharf. The APA signed a 10-year lease and is expected to take occupancy between Nov. 1, 2017 and Jan. 1, 2018. The APA was originally headquartered in DC, prior to their move to Virginia.

The APA represents more than 36,000 psychiatrists in the U.S. and around the world, according to the news release. The association has more than 200 employees at its Arlington, Va., headquarters. The move to the Wharf represents a return to the District for the APA, which used to maintain its headquarters on K Street.
“We are delighted to welcome the American Psychiatric Association and their 200 employees back to their home, in DC,” said Mayor Muriel Bowser. “The APA’s move is another sign that our infrastructure, our economy and our talent are attracting world-class organizations into the District.”

“The American Psychiatric Association is excited about our return to the District,” said APA CEO and Medical Director Saul Levin, M.D., M.P.A. “The APA is taking a more active role in advocating for our physicians and patients on the Hill and our presence in the nation’s capital will surely strengthen our voice on important mental health issues. We left the District more than a dozen years ago and we missed being in the city. We are thrilled to be coming back.”
“We are very proud to welcome the American Psychiatric Association as our first major commercial tenant to The Wharf,” said Monty Hoffman of Hoffman-Madison Waterfront. “The APA was founded in 1844 and today is the world’s largest psychiatric organization. Our location here in Southwest, offering extraordinary transportation access, an exciting mix of uses, beautiful public spaces, and retail and dining options – as well as stunning water views and amenities – is one-of-a-kind, and I believe will provide great benefits for such a significant organization that maintains strong local to international relationships and affiliations.”
“The Wharf is delighted to welcome the APA to a business environment unlike any other in Washington, D.C.,” said Daniel McCahan, Senior Vice President, Madison Marquette. “The Wharf’s convenient location along major commuting corridors and near mass transit connections together with office space that is both masterfully designed and technologically advanced will provide the APA not just a unique waterfront setting but also access to a dynamic neighborhood at the epicenter of national tourism, history, business, research and power.”
The APA was represented by Sherry Cushman of Cushman Wakefield (in conjunction with CB Richard Ellis), and The Wharf was represented by Brian Dawson of Cushman & Wakefield.
