Arlington County Police are looking for a man they say tried to rape a woman as she walked her dog in the Radnor/Fort Myer neighborhood.

ROSSLYN, VA — The Special Victims Unit of the Arlington County Police is investigating an attempted rape that took place Tuesday evening in the Radnor/Fort Myer Heights neighborhood, according to a police report.
Officers were dispatched around 10:47 p.m. to the 1300 block of North Rolfe Street for the report of an attempted rape. Police determined the victim was walking her dog along the North Rhodes Street bridge over Arlington Boulevard when she saw a man begin to follow her. After she picked up her pace to put distance between herself and the man, he began to chase her.
At the corner of Fairfax Drive and North Rolfe Street, both the woman and man fell to the ground. Landing on top of the victim, the man told her to remain silent, as he tried to remove her pants. A witness shouted out to the victim after hearing her yelling. The man stopped what he was doing and the victim was able to run away.
