Updated (Aug. 14, 5:05 p.m): This is an updated version of a story posted earlier on Friday. It adds details about the nature of the shooting, the police pursuit, and subsequent investigation.

CLARENDON, VA — Arlington County Police's Homicide/Robbery Unit is investigating a shooting incident that occurred early Friday morning in the Lyon Village neighborhood, according to a police release.

Around 4:11 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of N Herndon St., for the report of the shots being fired. Responding officers witnessed two vehicles leaving the scene at a high rate of speed. They attempted a traffic stop, but both drivers eluded the police.

ACPD issued a callout for the vehicles. One was found after it had ceased at the intersection of 10th Street n. and Arlington Boulevard. The driver was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. Using investigative measures, officers located the second vehicle and associated individuals in the 400 block of Army Navy Drive.

Following a preliminary investigation, police say that known individuals were attending a gathering in the Lyon Village neighborhood when they became engaged in a dispute. Shots were fired, but no injuries were reported.

ACPD reports that this remains an active criminal investigation. While detectives have interviewed numerous individuals, no charges have been filed at this time. Police say this was an isolated incident and there is known threat to the community.
