Strangulation Charge Filed In Colonial Village Attack: Report
Arlington County Police charged a man in connection with the April 13 attack on a woman in the Colonial Village area.

ROSSLYN, VA — Detectives from the Homicide/Robbery Unit of the Arlington County Police arrested a man they say attacked and choked a woman recently in the Colonial Village area, according to a police release.
Officers responded around 7:08 p.m., on April 13, for the report of an assault underway in the 1800 block of North Uhle Street. Police learned an unknown man had come up behind the female victim as she was walking in the area and then put a rope or cord tightly around her neck.
As the woman tried to free herself, she fell to the ground with the man above her. He then began choking her with his hands, but stopped when two witnesses approached. He then ran away. Police searched the area but were unable to locate the man.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Following April 13 attack, detectives canvassed the neighborhood and interviewed witnesses. This investigation led to the detectives identifying Marquis Holmes, 22, of no fixed address, as a possible suspect, according to the release.

Officers responded Wednesday night to the report of a suspicious person in the 1500 block of North Pierce Street, in the Radnor neighborhood west of Rosslyn. Police located Holmes and took him into custody without incident.
After interviewing Holmes, police charged him with strangulation and abduction with intent to defile.
