Traffic Alert: Bicycle Race To Close Clarendon Streets On Sunday

CLARENDON, VA — Motorists traveling through Clarendon on Sunday will have to seek alternate routes, as many roads will be closed to accommodate the Clarendon Cup Classic bicycle race, according to a police release.

Arlington County Police will be closing the following roads from 3 a.m.-4 p.m., on Sunday:

• Wilson Boulevard, from N. Fillmore Street to Washington Boulevard
• Clarendon Boulevard, from Washington Boulevard to N. Fillmore Street
• Washington Boulevard, from Wilson Boulevard to N. Highland Street
• North Highland Street, from Wilson Boulevard to Washington Boulevard
• North Garfield Street / N. Fillmore Street, from Wilson Boulevard to Washington Boulevard

Other streets in the surrounding area may be closed as well, depending on whether police deem it necessary.

Police are encouraging spectators and those competing in the races to use Metro or other for-hire services to access the area. Both the Orange and Silver line trains service the Clarendon Metro station, which is located at the corner of Highland Street and Wilson Boulevard and is closest to the racecourse.

Temporary "No Parking" signs will be posted to indicated places where street parking is restricted during Saturday's event. Anyone whose care is towed should contact the Emergency Communications Center at 703-558-2222.

Similar street closings and parking restrictions will be in place on Saturday in the Crystal City and National Landing area for the Armed Forces Cycling Classic races.
