Travel Near and Far Inspires October Art Show at Gallery Underground

A members' exhibition is also planned at the Crystal City gallery.

In the Focus Gallery during October, Gallery Underground presents a new exhibit “World Aesthetic.” This is an all-media national juried landscape show spotlighting the creative inspiration provided by travel near or far; domestic or international; places real or imagined.

This show will be juried by Alice Kale, a popular teacher and artist in oil, watercolor, and ink from Alexandria, where she is well-known for her images of neighborhood life. Kale’s work has been featured in The Washington Post, and two national magazines, Watercolor Magic and Artist’s Sketchbook. She exhibits extensively in the mid-Atlantic region and has won numerous awards.

In the Main Gallery: October Members Show

Opening Reception: Friday, Oct. 3, 5-8 p.m.

Gallery Underground also features a new exhibit of members’ work in the Main Gallery, including sculpture, glass, ceramics, watercolor, oil, acrylic, jewelry and mixed media.

Located in the Crystal City Shops at 2100 Crystal Drive, Arlington, this visual arts venue showcases the work of established and emerging regional artists. It is sponsored by the Arlington Artists Alliance (AAA), in partnership with the Crystal City Business Improvement District (BID) and Vornado/Charles E. Smith.

Gallery Hours: M-F 10 am - 6 pm, Saturday 10 am - 2 pm. Metro accessible. Parking is available in metered spots on nearby streets and in public garages, which are free all day Saturdays and after 4 pm on weekdays.
