From 80 Degrees to Snow: Virginia Weekend Weather Rollercoaster
A reminder that we're barely into spring, with a slight chance of snow. Temperatures will fluctuate and the forecast is soggy.
April will start out more like a rollercoaster than a lamb, with 30-degree swings in high temperatures, sunny skies and rain. We’ll see a high close to 80 degrees and a slight chance of snow.
The normal high for this time of year is 62 degrees.
The National Weather Service forecast for Northern Virginia this weekend predicts a chance of rain continuously Thursday night through Saturday night, and more soggy skies Monday. Some of that rain will mix with snow on Saturday night.

Thursday night: A chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 3am. Cloudy, with a low around 61. South wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Friday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before noon, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. West wind 14 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Friday night: A slight chance of showers after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. West wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light and variable. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Saturday: A slight chance of showers before 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 63. West wind 5 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
