ALEXANDRIA, VA — Many things have changed during the pandemic, but the need for shelter pets to find loving homes continues. The Animal Welfare of Alexandria, which runs the city's shelter, has plenty of adoptable pets

Potential adopters can meet pets through virtual and in-person appointments. The AWLA follows the ALX Promise standards to keep the community and staff safe while helping animals in need. The shelter remains available by appointment only.
