Alexandria Among Top 2021 Cities For Young Professionals: Niche

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Niche is out with its 2021 Best Places to Live rankings, and Alexandria makes the cut on a national level in several categories.

Niche, a website producing profiles of schools, places to work and over 50,000 cities and towns in the U.S., provides ratings and reviews to help people determine which schools and places they'd like to be in. This was the seventh consecutive year Niche has released rankings.

The 2021 rankings look at 228 cities and 18,516 towns and neighborhoods. Rankings were compiled using city data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the FBI, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, millions of resident reviews, and other sources. Factors such as affordability, the local housing market, neighborhood diversity, area public schools and walkability are considered.

Alexandria's top ranking was 10th in the U.S. for best cities for young professionals in America, while neighboring Washington, DC and Arlington ranked fourth and fifth, respectively. According to Niche, this ranking is determined by the number of millennial residents, job opportunities, and the presence of bars, restaurants and affordable housing.
