Alexandria Little League Team Wins State Championship
The team became the first from Alexandria to ever win a state Little League championship.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Alexandria's Little League Intermediate 50/70 All-Star Team has won the state championship. The boys, ages 12 to 13, will move on to southeast finals in North Carolina.
Their win is the first an Alexandria team in any division has won in the Virginia Little League. The boys played their way to the top by defeating teams from Fort Hunt, Virginia Beach, Strasburg and Halifax in the finals. It went undefeated in the state tournament and won the district tournament in June against Arlington.
The boys will represent the Old Dominion at the Southeast Regional Tournament in Kernersville, N.C. July 21-24, 2017. The team will compete against state champions from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and West Virginia.

The boys play in the Intermediate 50/70, which means the distance from the pitcher to home plate is 50 feet, while there's 70 feet between bases.

“We are particularly proud of those players who put forth the extra effort on and off the field to represent our league and city so well.” says Gus Chiarello, President of Alexandria Little League. “This is a great moment for our league and for our community.”
