Alexandria Man Found Dead In Southern Virginia Double Homicide

Virginia State Police are looking for information after two people were found dead outside a car.

TURBEVILLE, VA — Virginia State Police are trying to piece together details of a double homicide that killed an Alexandria man in Halifax County near the Virginia-North Carolina border Saturday.

Police found the bodies after being called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Route 58 in Turbeville around 2:51 a.m. Saturday. A silver 2009 Nissan Maxima was located in the median, and two dead people were lying on the ground in the median near the vehicle. Further investigation revealed the deaths were not a result of the vehicle running off the road onto the median.

The individuals were identified as Ntombo Joel Bianda, 21, of Alexandria, and Ayanna Munne Maertens Griffin, 19, of Germantown, Maryland.

Police say this part of Route 58 (Philpott Road) is isolated and not heavily traveled during overnight hours.

Anyone who may have seen the silver Nissan Maxima with Virginia license plates anywhere between South Boston, Virginia and Danville between 11 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7 and 3 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8 is asked to contact state police. In addition, those who drove in the area of Route 58/Philpott Road near Melon Road between 2:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. Saturday are asked to call state police at 434-352-7128 or #77 on a cell phone or email questions@vsp.virginia.gov.
