Alexandria Man Killed In Stabbing While Working On DC Bridge

A man was charged with first-degree murder while armed in the death of an Alexandria man at a D.C. bridge site.

WASHINGTON, DC — An Alexandria man was killed in a stabbing while working on a bridge in D.C. Thursday afternoon, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

Around 2:30 p.m., police responded to the stabbing on the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge over the Anacostia River. Police found the victim with multiple stab wounds. First responders took him to the hospital with life threatening injuries, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The victim was identified as Robert Bolich, 62, of Alexandria. According to the Washington Post, Bolich worked for HNTB Corp. and was contracted to work on the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge as a bridge inspector.

Lance Ammons, 42, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder while armed. "We don't know exactly what transpired, what the motive was for the stabbing," Metropolitan Police Department Chief Peter Newsham told reporters Thursday.
