Greetings!
Are you ready for REDSKINS Football History!
We try to keep all members, prospective members, and the public well informed of the exceptional program we have developed for 2015-2016. The purpose of this communication is to review our first meeting held in September, and to announce our speaker for the October 20th REDSKINS Night!
Our first meeting turned out to be fun and informative, because of the remarkable coaches who spoke so eloquently that evening. We are so fortunate that such high caliber individuals coach the young student athletes of our City.
We extend our thanks and gratitude to Coach Bernard Joseph of St. Stephens and St. Agnes, Tony Verducci of Bishop Ireton, and Marc Matthie of TC Williams for making “Alexandria High School Football Coaches Night” a great success!
Now I take great pleasure in announcing that our speaker for Annual “Redskins Night” will be one of the 80 greatest Redskins of all time, Roy Jefferson. With his long, graceful strides and sure hands, Roy Jefferson was a go-to guy on the receiving end for the Redskins in the 1970s.
Playing in D.C. from 1971 to 1976, he caught 208 passes for 3,119 yards and 16 touchdowns. He was a consistent threat who helped increase the Redskins’ level of success during the historic era of Coach George Allen, when they went to the playoffs five times, including an appearance in Super Bowl VII. Visit our website to learn more about Roy Jefferson and consider to join our organization; we are now over 150 members strong and growing!
Please make sure you come on Tuesday, October 20th to the historic Old Dominion Boat Club, 1 King Street, Alexandria, Virginia; the meeting is open to all. The welcome reception will be held at 6:30 PM, with the meeting starting at 7:15 PM. Chili Dinner sponsored by Hard Times Café will be served following the program. We look forward to seeing you on October 20th and look forward to your help and support as we continue to make 2015-2016 another great year in the Sportsman’s Club’s storied history!
