For city customers, services like curbside yard waste collections and mulch delivery have been paused during the pandemic.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — The City of Alexandria's trash and recycling services that were paused during the pandemic will resume in phases.
While traditional trash and recycling collections have continued, crews had stopped collecting materials placed outside city-issued carts. Collection of these items will resume on June 15. Bulk collections must be scheduled in advance.

The city has been running a temporary yard waste drop-off site while yard waste collection is suspended. Curbside yard waste collection will be back starting June 19. Yard waste will be collected on Fridays rather than regular collection days until further notice. The temporary drop-off site, which is open Tuesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., will run through June 12.
Alexandria's Department of Transportation and Environmental Services also plans to resume street sweeping on June 15. Enforcement of residential "no parking" rules remain suspended. Residents are asked to move vehicles when possible, but crews will work around parked cars.
