Art in Movement, Journey through Dance Art Exhibit at Del Ray Artisans

The Art in Movement, Journey through Dance art exhibit at Del Ray Artisans gallery celebrates the joys of movement through dance and features the art of belly dance. To kick off the exhibit the first week of September, belly dancer FranzMarie will be performing inside the gallery. The performance will be filmed and shared on social media through Del Ray Artisans.

Belly Dance is expressed in many styles: Oriental (Egypt/Lebanon), Balkan (Bulgaria/ Romania/Slovenia), Folkloric (Egypt/Morocco/Algeria), Tribal (U.S.), Persian (Iran) and Odissi (India)—to name a few. These various styles communicate different cultures, languages, dress, and music while taking you on a journey around the world.

Visit the gallery from September 4–26, 2020 to see artwork inspired by the various forms of belly dance. You’ll find oil and acrylic paintings, watercolor, charcoal drawings, sculpture, jewelry, mixed media and more, as well as small unframed affordable artworks.

The exhibit will also feature a Belly Dance Souk – an Arab marketplace – which contains an assortment of belly dance items such as skirts, tops, dresses, accessories and jewelry. Some items are from Egypt, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Kelly Postula, the exhibit curator and a former belly dancer, is donating the proceeds from the Souk to support Del Ray Artisans nonprofit.
