Bishop Ireton Snags Former TC Williams Girls Basketball Coach

Kesha Walton had been with T.C. Williams basketball for 12 years.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Bishop Ireton High School, a Catholic school in Alexandria, has announced the hire of Kesha Walton as the new varsity girls head basketball coach. Walton was most recently the head coach of girls basketball at T.C. Williams.

Walton had been at T.C. Williams for the past 12 years coaching the girls junior varsity and varsity teams. She led the Titans to five district titles and two state tournament appearances with a 181-31. She received three district coach of the year awards during her time at T.C. Williams.

As a player at North Carolina A&T University, Walton earned four letters from 1999 to 2002, was named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and All-Freshman Team in 1999, made first team all-conference and was the team's Most Valuable Player and North Carolina A&T Female Athlete of the Year in 2002.

"We are pleased to announce the hiring of Kesha," said Athletic Director Bryce Bevill. "She is a terrific coach and will be a great ambassador and leader for our girls basketball program."

Walton's move to Bishop Ireton comes as Alexandria City Public Schools' new athletic director James Parker made coaching changes as part of his vision for the program. Both the T.C. Williams girl's and boy's basketball teams have new coaches: Team USA gold medalist and former WNBA player Lisa Willis for the girls and 1980s basketball star Darryl Prue for the boys.
