Capitals Player Gets Speeding Ticket After Series Win
When Capitals player Justin Williams returned to Virginia after the team's win in Toronto, a speeding ticket wasn't the praise he expected.
ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Capitals player Justin Williams received a speeding ticket in Virginia after returning from Toronto Sunday, where the team won their first round playoff series. That wasn't the welcome back he expected after scoring the overtime game winner in Game 5, which boosted the team to the Game 6 series win.
Williams told WTOP that he thought the police officer that pulled him over recognized him.
“She told me, ‘Great job, and here’s your speeding ticket,'” he said.

Williams did not specify the area he received the ticket in, how much the ticket was for, or how fast he was driving when pulled over. But he told WTOP that “a lot of people” have offered to to pay the ticket.
For some fans, that came with an ultimatum: win against the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first game of round two on Thursday.
@JustinWilliams I'll pay it if you score the GWG on Thursday. Deal? @russianmachine @Capitals
