Chinquapin Rec Center to Debut Family Fun Nights

Alexandria’s Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities will kickoff its new monthly Family Fun Nights at Chinquapin Recreation Center at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27.

The first Family Fun Night will feature a Wipeout-style activity using a floating, inflatable obstacle course in the center’s indoor pool.

Admission prices are $4 per resident and $8 per nonresident and are paid upon arrival.

Department staff envisions a different theme each month suitable for families with children of all ages. Younger children will have open swim time in the shallows while older children take on the activities in the diving area.

During the two-hour event, the center’s fitness room, racquetball courts and soft playroom will be available for use at no addition charge.

Other Family Fun Nights are scheduled for Jan. 17, Feb. 14, March 14, April 11 and May 9.

Chinquapin Park Rec Center is located at 3210 King St. It reopened in November after months of renovation, including HVAC work, locker room upgrades, play material enhancements and regular maintenance.
