Citizenship Day, Council Returns and Trivia

A quick glance at what’s happening Tuesday, Sept. 10 in and around Del Ray:

Citizenship Day — Alexandria will join the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in recognizing individuals as naturalized United States citizens at its Citizenship Day event at 6 p.m. in Market Square in Old Town. During the event, the honorees will be sworn in and will take the oath of allegiance for United States citizenship. David Agnew, Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, will be this year's keynote speaker. 

City Council Returns — Alexandria’s governing body jumps back into action at City Hall at 7 p.m. following summer recess. Take a look at the meeting’s docket, and be sure to follow Patch’s live coverage on Twitter at @AlexandriaPatch and@DelRayPatch. 

Trivia Night — Fireflies Restaurant (1501 Mount Vernon Ave.) hosts its trivia night beginning at 8 p.m. Reservations are recommended and can be placed by calling 703-758-7200.

Treat Yourself — It’s Thirsty Tuesday at Cheesetique (2411 Mt Vernon Ave.), which celebrated its ninth birthday last week. Glasses of wine are 20 percent off at lunch and bottles of wine are offered a the same discount at dinner.

Join Looking for a job? — The Alexandria Police Department is hiring officers. The mission of the APD is to provide competent, courteous, professional and community-oriented police services. Officer duties will consist of patrolling an assigned area, answering calls for service, conducting preliminary investigations, writing reports and controlling traffic.
