Here’s a quick look at the week ahead in Del Ray:
Del Ray Citizens Association meeting — Alexandria City Councilman Justin Wilson will discuss early efforts to bring new broadband options and Comcast alternatives to Alexandria and Del. Rob Krupicka (D-45th) will talk about the upcoming session of the General Assembly at the monthly meeting of the Del Ray Citizens Association, which begins at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9 at the Reingold office (433 E. Monroe Ave.). Refreshments and holiday treats will be served beginning at 7 p.m.
Potomac Yard Metro station — Alexandria City Council will hold a work session at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10 at City Hall concerning efforts to build an infill Metrorail station at Potomac Yard. The project ran into some obstacles and siting issues this summer and fall and city staff is currently “working very hard on alternative [station] locations” within Potomac Yard, Planning and Zoning Director Faroll Hamer said at last week’s Planning Commission meeting.

Duncan Library Holiday Open House — Join library staff and the Friends of Duncan Library for a holiday open house from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11 at the branch, which is located at 2501 Mount Vernon Ave.
Rick Springfield — The Australian pop singer’s stripped-down Thursday show at The Birchmere (3701 Mount Vernon Ave.) is sold out, but that doesn’t mean we can’t listen to his 1981 hit “Jessie’s Girl” right now (or from the venue’s bar during the performance) for free.

Potomac Yard Park Opens — An opening ceremony for the 21-acre linear park on the eastern edge of the new Potomac Yard development will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14.
