Del Ray Homes Create Holiday Card Lane For Christmas Season
Numerous homes in a Del Ray neighborhood are displaying oversized holiday cards in their yards.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — A Christmas display tradition returns in 2020 to bring holiday cheer to a Del Ray neighborhood.
The Holiday Card Lane on East Luray Avenue and surrounding streets features oversized holiday cards displayed in front yards. Over 30 homes are up, covering three blocks and neighboring streets, resident Wendy Moniz said in an email to Patch.
The displays have been a tradition since 2014. East Luray Avenue resident Rebecca VanZoeren was inspired by the Christmas Card Lane growing up in Kalamazoo Michigan. VanZoeren thought it would be a fun idea to recreate it in Del Ray. This year, the tradition gained national attention from media outlets like USA Today and the Washington Post.

The holiday cards can be viewed through a walking or driving tour. The suggested route starts on Mount Vernon Avenue, and turns onto the 300 block of East Luray Avenue. Most of the cards are on four blocks. At Commonwealth Avenue, make a right and another right on East Alexandria Avenue to see more cards.
