Dog Days Of Del Ray Is First Thursday Theme For May

ALEXANDRIA, VA—If you missed the Love Your Pet Day Block Party, the next First Thursday street festival will be held on May 9 with a Dog Days in Del Ray theme.

The event is held along Mount Vernon Avenue from 6 p.m. to dusk. Dogs and their humans are invited for a variety of dog-themed activities. Attendance is free.

Each First Thursday raises money for a different community group. This month's donations will go to the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, which shelters pets in need and supports adoptions, animal welfare and responsible pet ownership. Needed donations include dry and wet food for dogs and cats, as well as durable pet toys like Kongs. Donations will be collected at the Pat Miller Neighborhood Square at Mount Vernon and Oxford Avenues.

First Thursday is held each first Thursday of the month from April to September. The May event is sponsored by the Del Ray Business Association and Your Dog's Best Friends.
