Featured Alexandria Pet: Maya Available Through Virtual Adoption

The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria has a virtual adoption process to help pets in need during the coronavirus crisis.

As families stay home and practice social distancing during the coronavirus crisis, pets can be a comfort during this time. The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria switched gears to offer a virtual adoption process with video meet-and-greets.

Potential adopters can start the process at AlexandriaAnimals.org/VirtualAdoptions. Meeting slots are available three days in advance and fill up quickly, so continue to check the scheduling page for available meet-and-greet times.

One of the available pets is Maya, an energetic dog who knows her tricks and enjoys walks. Here's a full description from AWLA:

Maya, Adult, Spayed Female, Black and White Pit Bull Terrier
Hello, everyone! My name is Maya. My joys in life are tummy time, rolling in the grass, and getting petted and snuggled by my favorite person. Sometimes, at first, I can be very excited and get a burst of energy, but then I'm calm; I know my cues for "sit" and "down" really well, and walk like a little lady on the leash, enjoying sniffing and just trotting along. I can be a little particular about my dog friends, so would love to be an only dog. And can get a bit energetic so might be a better match for older kids than younger kids. If you like a girl who's the perfect mix of exuberant and sweet, I'm the one!
