Free Eye Patches! YMCA Alexandria Presents 5K Pirate Treasure Your Health Race

Looking to liven up its annual 5K race, the YMCA Alexandria is rolling out a new course and race theme this year.

The 5K Pirate Treasure Your Health Race kicks off at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12. The race will begin and end at the YMCA building at 420 E. Monroe Ave.

Post-race activities include music, face painting and a 50-yard dash for children ages 2 to 10. 

Organizers are encouraging participants to dress as pirates for the race, with the best costume winning a prize. Free eye patches will be available for all.

Race registration is available online for $30, with entrants receiving a commemorative T-shirt. Day-off registration will be available for $35. Participants under the age of 10 are free.

Packet pickup and in-person registration will take place from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11 at the YMCA.

Packet pickup and late registration will be available from 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. the day of the race at the YMCA.
