Patch: What attracted you to your line of work, and how did you get started?

Robinson: I like putting a smile on my clients' faces after a relaxing facial or a comfortable waxing experience. My career in esthetics began in 2007 as an Aveda graduate. I was a skincare specialist at a full-service day spa providing facials and waxing for about 10 years. I believe beauty is skin deep, but it is always a positive to look and feel good about ourselves.
Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in five words, what would those words be?
Robinson: Here at WTC Alexandria, our mission is to "provide an awesome waxing experience." We do so with our unique combination of technical expertise and customer service excellence.
Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?
Robinson: A challenge we often encounter is hiring. We are careful, thorough and take pride in who we welcome to our WTC family. It's a bit of a struggle finding a person that has great customer service and the required skill set.
Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?
Robinson: It's very satisfying when we have new clients referred by our regular patrons. It's humbling to know that our clients are impressed with the service they received and would recommend their friends and family knowing that they will be in great hands. This makes us smile from ear to ear and inspires us to continue doing what we do.

Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?
Robinson: We understand we are not the fastest, but we want to be the best at what we do! We are serious about smooth. Our waxers, which we call cerologists, meaning expert in wax in Latin, are well trained with our own proprietary wax manufactured in Europe. Our formula shrink wraps to hair and dries fast making the process most efficient and it does not irritate or stick to skin, which makes the whole experience more comfortable. We cater to each and every one of our clients. We don't treat them as another appointment, but we ensure building a lasting relationship with every waxing visit.
Patch: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?
Robinson: The best advice I have received about success is "You have to think outside of the box." In order to succeed you must be willing to take a risk. Never be afraid to fail because you can always get back up. I'm a true believer that if you love what you you will never work a day in your life.
Patch: What would you say is the secret to your success?
Robinson: A few secrets to our success is treating our employees well. We believe that if our employees are happy the clients will get the best service possible. That translates into repeat business and keeps things consistent. We also believe in grassroots marketing. We make it a priority to being involved in the Del Ray community. It's a huge part of staying successful.
Patch: What is your favorite thing about Patch?
Robinson: My favorite thing about the Patch is that it is a well-known media outlet in our area, also the targeted coverage around our studio. The online presence, image and the reach it provides us is amazing.
Patch: Do you have any events coming up in your community?
Robinson: We have a couple of events coming in the end of summer and early fall. Dates TBD. Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram for updates. We will be sure to keep you posted. We will be throwing a "Brows that Wow" party. It includes brow waxing, tinting, shaping and fill-ins. We will also be having a "Manzilian" party. If you're wondering what's a Manzilian?! It's the male version of a Brazilian wax. The person being waxed will be a male celebrity guest. The session will be covered on Facebook Live.
