Plus, free swimming and a meeting about bike lanes on King Street.

5 things for Wednesday, Sept. 18 in and around Del Ray:

Try Transit Week — Stop by the Alexandria Transit Store (near the corner of Duke Street and Diagonal Road) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for free daily giveaways all week. On Wednesday, those who bike over to the store will receive a free bike light, water bottle, bicycle helmet or 24-hour Capital Bikeshare coupon. More information on the city’s Local Motion website.

Narrow King Street? — Speaking of bikes, if you want to chime in on the city’s proposal to narrow a segment of King Street and remove on-street parking for bicycle lanes, city staff is hosting a community meeting to discuss the plan at 7 p.m. at Maury Elementary (600 Russell Road). More information: “Bike Lanes or On-Street Parking?

Janna Audey — This local favorite stops by St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub (2300 Mount Vernon Ave.) for a free show beginning at 8 p.m. She does a great cover of Bob Dylan’s “Mississippi,” one of my all-time favorite songs.
