Letter to the Editor: Youth Services Manager at Duncan Library Says Thank You
Elisabeth Murray, youth services manager at Duncan Branch Library, thanks the Del Ray community.

To the editor:
As the new Youth Services Manager at the Duncan Branch Library, I wanted to take a moment and say thank you. Thank you to the Del Ray community and thank you to the Friends of the Duncan Branch Library. You inspire me.
Thank you to the members of the community who took the time on the Veterans Day weekend to write a letter, make a card or draw a picture for our service members currently deployed. As parents sat with their children and colored pages red, white and blue, they discussed the meaning of Veterans Day and the service and sacrifice of those this holiday honors. Â Your words, your actions inspire me.

Thank you to the Friends of the Duncan Branch Library for supporting the Youth Services Department. Your generosity has allowed the library to purchase brightly colored rhythm scarves, egg shakers and other musical tools. Â Our programs have leapt to new heights as we jump, shake, wiggle and stomp.
Your financial support has also given me the resources to update our children’s nonfiction collection. Alexandria’s youth will have the books they need for research, and for some of our young readers, the books that they want for pleasure reading.  Yes, kids do read nonfiction for fun.

Sincerely,
