Man Charged With Murder Of Alexandria Resident In Mount Vernon
Police announced a new charge after the victim's body was found near a bridge in December.
MOUNT VERNON, VA — A man has been charged in the killing of a City of Alexandria resident whose body was found in Mount Vernon.
Malik Salam, 41, of Mount Vernon had been charged with unlawful disposal of a body on Dec. 22. Detectives obtained a warrant to charge him with murder on Thursday, Jan. 9.
A person walking a dog found the body of Micale Kebede, 31, near a bridge at Old Mill Road and Gateshead Road on Dec. 18. An autopsy determined the victim suffered upper body trauma, and police did not believe the incident was random.

Salam is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
