Man Sentenced For Alexandria Armed Carjacking, Other Robberies
A man will serve nearly 30 years in prison for an armed carjacking in Alexandria and robberies in other locations.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — A man was sentenced to nearly 30 years in prison in relation to three armed robberies and an armed carjacking in Northern Virginia. He was one of four defendants on trial for a series of armed robberies and carjackings.
According to prosecutors, Lamont Kortez Gaines, 29, of Washington, DC, had a role in an armed carjacking in Alexandria, as well as the armed robbery of an Advance America Cash Advance store in Lincolnia and two 7-Eleven locations in Arlington.
Court documents show the carjacking happened in the 500 block of Slaters Lane on March 18, 2017. The victim was unloading items from his vehicle when two men showed up and pulled out a gun. The men took the car keys from his pockets, cash and his phone before fleeing. The stolen Nissan Altima was found nearly a week later in DC.

Three other men were on trial for numerous armed robberies and carjackings between Nov. 1, 2016 and April 12, 2017 in the DC region. The armed robberies that occurred in Alexandria were at 7-Eleven (800 Franklin Street) on Nov. 16, 2016 and March 26, 2017; 7-Eleven (3023 Duke Street) on Nov. 22, 2016; 7-Eleven (2002 Eisenhower Avenue) on Dec. 7, 2016; 7-Eleven (30 South Reynolds Street) on Dec. 13, 2016; Domino's Pizza (5418 Duke Street) on March 19, 2017; and 7-Eleven (800 Franklin Street).
Andrew Bernard Duncan, 28, Desmar Rashad Gayles, 27, and Anton Durrell Harris, 29, all of DC, previously pleaded guilty to brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence. They were each sentenced to 32 years in prison.
