Meeting To Detail Upgrades To Mount Vernon Avenue Transit Stops
The city is required to make ADA-compliant improvements to 11 locations along Del Ray's main road.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—A community meeting will detail upcoming improvements to make 11 locations ADA-compliant along Mount Vernon Avenue in Del Ray. The meeting will be held Wednesday, June 26 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Mount Vernon Recreation Center, 2701 Commonwealth Avenue, Alexandria.
The improvements will happen at transit stops and other locations on Mount Vernon Avenue between West Reed Avenue and East Nelson Avenue. New curb extensions for bus stops, updates to existing bus pads and curb ramps, relocation of bus stop signs and benches, and installation of a storm inlet, sewer and manholes are all part of the project.

The project is part of the Mount Vernon Avenue Complete Streets project. Construction of the improvements is set to begin over the summer. Mount Vernon Avenue is also scheduled for resurfacing between Braddock Road and Hume Avenue.
