Much Of Phase 1b Vaccine Waitlist Set To Cleared In Alexandria
Alexandria is getting caught up on most of the waitlist, including those with underlying health conditions.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — New data shows the Alexandria Health Department will have mostly caught up with the phase 1b COVID-19 vaccine waitlist by Monday, April 5.
Below are the groups the health department will have contacted for appointments by April 5:
- Phase 1a: Everyone who preregistered by March 30.
- Ages 75 and up: Everyone who preregistered by March 30.
- Ages 65-74: Everyone who preregistered by March 30.
- Ages 16-64 with certain underlying conditions:
- Those in priority census tracts who preregistered by March 30.
- Those in all other census tracts who preregistered by 2 p.m. on March 30.
- Police, Fire, and Hazmat; Corrections and Homeless Shelter; Childcare/PreK-12 Teachers/Staff who preregistered by March 30.
- Food and Agriculture/Veterinarians; Manufacturing; Grocery Stores; Public Transit; Mail Carriers/USPS and private; Officials needed to maintain continuity of government/judges/public-facing judicial workers; Clergy/Faith Leaders; Janitorial/Cleaning who preregistered by March 30.
- Restaurant and Food Service Workers who preregistered by March 30.
Mayor Justin Wilson attributed the scheduling progress on increases in weekly doses to Alexandria.

Eligible people in phases 1a or 1b who registered by March 30 and are not contacted by the health department by April 5 are asked to check their email spam folder. If there is no email from the health department, residents can fill out a form to request a status update.
Those without internet or email access can call the Alexandria COVID-19 Hotline weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 703-746-4988.

As of March 31, there were 36,379 Alexandrians with at least one vaccine dose, or 27.3 percent of the population 16 and older. There are 21,170 people fully vaccinated, or 15.9 percent of the 16 and older population. The health department's target is to get 80 percent of Alexandrians 16 and up vaccinated (106,618 people). Alexandria has 133,272 residents 16 and up.
Any Alexandria resident 16 and up can preregister for the vaccine regardless of current eligibility at vaccinate.virginia.gov. All of Virginians 16 and up will be eligible by April 18.
