Open Coronavirus Vaccine Scheduling Begins In Alexandria
Residents can find available vaccine locations without preregistration from the health department and its partners.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — On Tuesday, the Alexandria Health Department and its partners transitioned to open scheduling for the COVID-19 vaccine.
All residents 16 and over can directly book appointments without preregistering. Scheduling links for community vaccination events are posted at alexandriava.gov/Vaccines. Available options include Alexandria Health Department clinics and partner clinics.
When scheduling, residents should remember the Pfizer vaccine is authorized for ages 16 and up, while the Johnson & Johnson and Moderna vaccines are authorized for ages 18 and up.

Residents needing assistance scheduling can call the Alexandria COVID-19 Hotline at 703-746-4988 on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The health department opened registration after attempting to contact all eligible residents who preregistered at www.alexandriava.gov/Vaccines or vaccinate.virginia.gov. Alexandria is nearing the milestone of 100,000 vaccines administered. The health department attributed the to the work of the Alexandria Health Department, city staff, Medical Reserve Corps, community volunteers, and those who chose to get the vaccine.

As of Monday, 43.3 percent of Alexandria residents 16 and older have at least one dose, or 57,649 people. A total of 31.2 percent of residents 16 and older are fully vaccinated, or 41,569 people. The target goal is vaccinating 80 percent of residents 16 and up, or 106,618 people by the summer.
Amid continuing vaccinations, Alexandria's COVID-19 cases are trending down. According to the Virginia Department of Health's data, the seven-day daily case average is 15. At a peak, the average was 58.9 daily cases on Jan. 12. Total cases per 100,000 people in the last 14 days are 162.
Hospitalizations and deaths continue to be reported but not every day. There was one hospitalization and one death reported in the last week.
To date, Alexandria has 11,585 COVID-19 cases, 551 hospitalizations, and 133 deaths.
