Meet Catnip and learn about the Animal Welfare League's need for unwanted Snuggies
In this week's Shelter Spotlight, Suzanne D'Alonzo of the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria introduces us to Catnip, a 4-year-old cat and Snuggie toy model.
That's right—the Animal Welfare League is asking for donated Snuggie fleece material for the shelter's youth volunteers to fashion into "kittywands" and braided tug toys. Polarfleece makes a great toy for pets because it doesn't fray, according to D'Alonzo, and it cleans very well in the washer.
"We don’t want folks to buy Snuggies," D'Alonzo said, "but if there is a Snuggie around the house that doesn’t get used, that came as a gag gift, we’d like to turn it into cat, dog and rabbit toys."
